A $100 Billion Bet on Louisiana's Future
On August 25, 2026, SpaceX and Governor Jeff Landry announced the most ambitious infrastructure investment in Louisiana's history: a Starship launch and production complex on the Gulf Coast marshland of Pecan Island. Figures below are as announced and reported. Construction and flight dates remain targets, not confirmed schedules.
To be clear about the name: this is the SpaceX Starship facility on Pecan Island in Vermilion Parish. It is not STARBASE Louisiana, the Department of Defense youth STEM education program that has used the same name for years. Two unrelated things.
